A high-level global dialogue will take place this Thursday, July 24, 2025, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) Working Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Survivors. The event aims to spotlight the long-overdue intersection between antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), bringing critical attention to this pressing global health challenge. This initiative serves as a rallying call ahead of the United Nations High-Level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of NCDs and the Promotion of Mental Health, scheduled for later this year. It underscores the urgent need to integrate AMR more effectively into the broader global NCD agenda. People living with NCDs—such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer—are significantly more vulnerable to drug-resistant infections. AMR and NCDs share common systemic drivers, including health inequities, limited access to care, and a lack of innovation.More than just a discussion, this global dialogue offers a platform to amplify the voices of survivors and patient advocates, unite rights-based health communities, and help shape future global health commitments. By breaking down silos and encouraging collaborative action, this event aims to chart a path toward more equitable, integrated, and sustainable health solutions for all.
