On the sidelines of the African Food Systems Forum, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock (MASAE) signed a Framework Partnership Agreement with The Cornerstone Group – Hajib Al Shams Joint Venture.This agreement, valued at USD 300 million over six years, marks a major step forward in the modernization of Senegalese agriculture through the use of renewable energy and green solutions.Implemented under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, the project provides that, at the end of the investment period, the energy infrastructures will be transferred to Senegalese producers and the private sector. This approach aims to ensure local empowerment and long-term sustainability.The agreement covers several strategic areas:solarization of farms, livestock units, aquaculture sites, and analysis laboratories;promotion of bioenergy solutions, including biogas and biofertilizers;capacity building for technical actors;carbon credit monetization to benefit an Agricultural Fund; financing of agricultural insurance;as well as international cooperation in research and innovation through this initiative, Senegal reaffirms its determination to strengthen food sovereignty, climate resilience, and rural community prosperity, in line with the presidential vision and the guidelines of Plan Sénégal 2050.Babacar Sène, Agropasteur Journal Agropasteur(MASAE)
