The environmental organization Earth Regenerative Project Sierra Leone (EaRP-SL) has launched a campaign to rally support for Hassan Kamara, who is running for the position of Regional Facilitator for Africa under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Major Groups and Stakeholders Mechanism. The initiative aims to promote inclusive leadership, strengthen cooperation among African environmental organizations and give greater visibility to grassroots actors.West Africa is seeking to strengthen its contribution to global environmental governance. It is against this backdrop that Earth Regenerative Project Sierra Leone (EaRP-SL) has announced the launch of a mobilization campaign in support of Hassan Kamara’s candidacy for the position of Regional Facilitator for Africa within the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Major Groups and Stakeholders Mechanism.Through this initiative, the organization is committed to bringing together environmental organizations across the continent around a shared vision: making African cooperation a key driver in promoting more representative, transparent and inclusive environmental leadership. For EaRP-SL, supporting this candidacy goes beyond the prospect of an individual appointment. It represents a collective ambition to strengthen Africa’s voice in international environmental debates and processes, while promoting the effective participation of African civil society in decision-making.In its campaign message, Earth Regenerative Project Sierra Leone is calling on African environmental organizations to move beyond national borders and strengthen their partnerships and synergies. The objective is to amplify Africa’s voice in environmental governance. The ambition is to build a stronger network capable of sharing knowledge, experiences and practical solutions to address the continent’s environmental challenges.Particular attention is being given to ensuring that all African regions are represented, especially by encouraging the participation of West African organizations, while maintaining an inclusive approach towards all other regions of the continent. The organization also seeks to promote greater recognition of local initiatives and community-based environmental movements, as well as the contributions of women and young people, whose involvement is essential to protecting natural resources and building more resilient communities.Inclusive and accountable leadershipInclusion and accountability are central principles of the campaign, which is built around several key values, including African unity, transparency, accountability, collaboration and the pursuit of tangible results. For the organizers of this mobilization, strengthening African environmental leadership requires building bridges between organizations, fostering dialogue among different stakeholders and improving the exchange of information and good practices.Sharing experiences among organizations accredited to UNEP is also an important pillar of this vision. It is expected to help showcase successful initiatives and encourage the development of responses adapted to Africa’s specific environmental realities.By supporting Hassan Kamara’s candidacy, which it presents as a source of hope, Earth Regenerative Project Sierra Leone is expressing its commitment to contributing to the emergence of African environmental leadership rooted more firmly in cooperation and collective representation. The organization is therefore inviting eligible organizations and partners in the environmental sector to join this initiative, share their perspectives and contribute to building a common vision.Beyond the candidacy itself, the broader challenge is to ensure that Africa’s voice is more strongly heard within international environmental governance mechanisms and that civil society organizations are empowered to play their full role.“One Africa, One Voice, One Sustainable Future” is the ambition behind this campaign, which seeks to make unity and collective mobilization key drivers of more inclusive environmental leadership in the service of a sustainable Africa.Babaclimat / Journal AgropasteurSource: Earth Regenerative Project Sierra Leone (EaRP-SL).
