Mr. Emmanuel Bourre Sarr, Regional Director for West Africa at Brooke West Africa, paid a courtesy and working visit to the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources (MIRAH) of Côte d’Ivoire.The meeting brought together Mr. Kouakou Assoumany Gouromenan, Chief of Staff, and Ms. Fadiga Haïda Kaly Diarrassouba, Technical Adviser within the cabinet of the Minister, Mr. Sidi Tiémoko Touré.Discussions focused on the importance of protecting working equids, particularly donkeys, as well as animal health issues.During the meeting, Mr. Sarr took the opportunity to congratulate Côte d’Ivoire, through MIRAH and its veterinary services, for its commitment to combating donkey trafficking.As a reminder, Ivorian authorities seized 78 donkeys during the night of July 27, 2026, in M’Bengué, in the northern part of the country, as they were being illegally transported to Ghana.This action demonstrates and reinforces the determination of the Ivorian authorities to support communities that depend on donkeys and contribute to their protection and preservation.It is further evidence of a shared commitment to the principle: “Together, let us protect our donkeys, and together, let us protect our animal resources.”Brooke West Africa and Côte d’Ivoire’s veterinary services are committed to working together to strengthen the prevention and treatment of animal diseases and to support the communities whose livelihoods depend on these animals.Babacar SèneAgropasteur Journal
